Opening Items:

  • Principals Report-Stacy Geale:
    • 144 kindergartners enrolled; 814 total students, higher than anticipated and in the past
    • Donuts and drop off a huge success, over 1500 people attended, some classrooms had 22/26 total students come!
    • New Vice Principal: Carrie Ferguson
  • Teachers report: Sara Bryant and Sarah Widmer both absent
  • Treasurers report/Budget – Mercedes Dillon:
    • Everyone budgeted (see handouts) $11.50 per teacher per student allotted, explained what this $$ went towards to new PTO members

Old business:

  • Box Tops:
    • Catrina explained the box tops program, and possible ideas discussed regarding a trophy/prize for the class that submitted the most box tops.
  • Bylaws:
    • To be reviewed the next meeting
  • SCRIP:
    • Valerie Rojas volunteered to run the SCRIP program
  • Art Lit:
    • Explained the Art Lit program, those volunteers are needed; there is an Art Lit Volunteer Meeting on Wed. the 23rd at 6:30 for volunteers
  • Cookie Dough Fundraiser:
    • Biggest $$ generator fundraiser of the year; we are looking for volunteers to help for this fundraiser. The kickoff assembly is October 12th. 40% of the proceeds go to the school.
  • PTO Picnic and Movie Night:
    • Scheduled for Friday September 25th. There is posting on the Facebook account, the school sign and going out in the newsletter.
  • Spirit Wear:
    • Sold 41 items at the donuts and drop-off, good way for students to show their school spirit by wearing Beaver Acres gear.

New Business:

  • Goals for the year:
    • Jog a Thon- hope in the future that will not have to do cookie dough sales and focus on jog a thon fundraiser. Other goals discussed were raising $ for a track or a school garden but we need people to volunteer for these projects
  • Student directory:
    • Looking to make a new one for this school year; possibly on-line one
  • Carnival:
    • Need a committee to tackle this
  • Dining night out:
    • Amy Kraft taking over setting these up for 2015-2016 school year
  • Valley Theatre fundraiser:
    • Catrina looking into doing ticket sales? for a fundraiser
  • Volunteer Opportunities:
    • Have all the volunteers needed for picture day
